FBI Investigating Whether Ameren’s Taum Sauk Computers Were Sabotaged

The FBI has been called in to investigate whether sabotage of Ameren’s computer’s caused the Dec. 14 Taum Sauk reservoir collapse.



On Ameren’s Taum Sauk website is this note:



The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control has commenced an investigation into the Taum Sauk Reservoir breach. At the Patrol’s request, the FBI joined the patrol in the investigation. A team of FBI computer forensic investigators will work with the patrol to assess the security of AmerenUE’s computer operational systems. AmerenUE is cooperating fully with the investigation.

Mt. Hood snowpack 122 percent of average

More than three times the amount of snow has fallen this year atop Mount Hood than last year, reaping benefits for Oregon ski areas, resorts and snow tire installers. That’s 122 percent of average snowfall for this time of year. Statewide, the snowfall numbers are even higher, at 130 percent of average. “We had some really nice snowfall for the month of January,” said Jon Lea, a hydrologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service. “Last year was pretty skimpy. This is a whole lot different than it was last year.”
