Blake Cicenas has passed along a couple awesome photos of the Mount Rogers ponies a couple weeks ago in the snow. You can see them at the Virginia Gallery.
These pics came from somebody in a hunting party in Arizona. Yes, the horse killed the Mountain Lion! The Cougar had been stalking them for the better part of the morning, on the way out to a hunt. They were pretty sure it was after a dog. The Cat apparently ambushed them, and the horse pictured tossed its rider and went into attack (defense) mode, the horses scattered and shots were fired but no one was sure if they hit the Cat or not. Unfortunately, the battle was decently long, and it wasn’t until it was almost over that one of the guys started snapping pics. It’s in the americasroof gallery.
Snopes is investigating whether these photos are an urban legend.

Western Mule Magazine has tracked down the story of Jody Anglin’s mule Berry in southwest New Mexico. The lion was dead and Berry started hitting it. The photographs got on the Internet by giving the pictures to his grandpa and his grandpa gave them to Jody’s aunt and that aunt gave them to a friend and that friend sent them e-mail to a friend
and it went from there to what it is today.
