A climber has said he thought he was going to die after being swept away by an avalanche near the summit of Ben Nevis. James McDowall, from Chester, was climbing Britain’s highest peak with a friend when the avalanche struck. But they walked away virtually unscathed despite plunging 900ft down the mountain face they had been scaling.
