82 Year Old William Painter Breaks Own Oldest Rainier Summit Record

Mount Rainier KOIN reports William Painter broke the record he set last year as oldest man to summit Rainier (82).

On the same day 7-year-old Aidan Gold of Bothell summited with his parents.

Painter trains by climbing 800-foot Badger Mountain near his home while carrying 40-pound weights.

The 7-year-old boy is not the youngest to climb Mount Rainier. That record is held by a 4-year-old who reached the top in 1999 with his family.

“The most important thing is not getting to the summit, but getting down.”
