Tip Top, Mount Washington’s First Locomotive to Go on Display in Mount Vernon Beaverbrook Museum

The Union Leader reports “Tip Top” — the first Mount Washington locomotive — is to go on display at the Beaverbrook Museum in Mount Vernon.

Eddie and Beth Gilbert are restoring the 1870 Ranlet coach. Gilbert is planning a 60- by 80-foot building to house the engine, coal tender and carriage, all of which will be mounted on a trestle, simulating the average 25 percent grade up the mountain.
