Heavy Rains Close Blue Ridge Parkway by Mount Mitchell Again

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports heavy rains over the weekend closed the Mount Mitchell to NC 80 section of the Blue Ridge Parkway which had just reopened after hurricane damage from last year.

Parkway officials said water was bubbling up in the area where the repairs occurred. They hope to reopen it this week. An eight-mile stretch of the parkway, just south of Linville Falls, remains closed and is not expected to reopen until next spring.
