Maryland Highway Department Jumps Gun on Changing Name of Catoctin Park Home of Camp David

The Associated Press reports the Maryland Highway Administration jumped the gun and changed the highway signs for Catoctin Mountain Park where Camp David is located.

Although Catoctin is part of the national park system it does not have national in its name and consequently it is sometimes confused with the state park across Route 77 from it — Cunningham Falls State Park. Sen. Paul Sarbanes, D-Md, is seeking Congressional approval to rename it Catoctin Mountain National Recreation Area but the approval has not been finalized.
