The News Tribune reports that Rainier Mountaineering Inc. which will lose its monoply to Rainier guided climbs in 2006 plans to leads trip to 5 of the 7 summits.
RMI plans trips to McKinley, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Aconcagua and Vinson-Massif as well as trips to volcanoes in Mexico and Ecuador. Prices range from $2,195 to climb MexicoÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s El Pico de Orizaba to $28,495 to climb Vinson-Massif.
Among the guides leading trips will be Ed Viestures. In May, Viestures will attempt to climb 26,250-foot Annapurna in the Himalayas to become the first American to scale all 14 of the worldÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s 8,000-meter peaks.
