Mount Rogers National Recreation Area Celebrates 50th Anniversary on May 30.
A hiker found a 4-by-12-foot, fresh piece of aluminum roofing from atop White Top adjoining Mount Rogers in Virginia. It is believed to have come from tornadoes that hit the area on April 28.
New Hampshire, Maine, Virginia and Georgia are considering corporate sponsorships of state parks. This could include corporate names on uniforms. Some state parks in Virginia already have corporate sponsored trail direction kiosks.
Appalachian Trail Days is coming May 14-16 to Damascus, Virginia. This year’s version will celebrate the new AT machine in Pennsylvania. Johnny Molloy, Gene Espy and Paralee Dawson-Hayward will be signing their guidebooks.
