After a film maker Jonathan Doyle filmed a couple of youtube videos of a guy wearing a Big Foot costume on New Hampshire’s Monadnock the park officials refused him access to the mountain. He sued and it’s gone to the New Hampshire Supreme Court.

They also have a facebook page Big Foot Free Speech.

Here’s an amusing tale of the pitfalls of commercial GPS — specifically for people looking for the headquarters of the Baxter State Park. The units try to send them to Katahdin summit!

Craig Hill has an amusing story on his ascent of Panorama Point.

Standing on the roof of Nebraska, mutiny in my family’s eyes, I had to act fast.
At my feet I noticed several large, dried bison patties. So I grabbed one, shouted “Alex, let’s play Frisbee” and let it fly. Kristen nearly pulled a hamstring scrambling for our industrial size bottle of hand sanitizer. “Kids, come here now,” she hollered. “And don’t touch your dad.” Panorama Point might have stunk (literally), but we’ll talk about it forever.

George Le Masurier has one of the most amusing tales you’ll ever find about summiting Rainier. Here’s just one excerpt.

Because so many people try to climb Mount Rainier every year, the National Park Service rangers make it harder by removing all the oxygen from the air, which they then heat up and sell to certain politicians during election campaigns. I kept scraping my way toward the 14,411-foot top in hopes there would be an underwear-changing service up there. No luck.
Reaching the summit is a moment of sheer joy and triumph. It lasts about 3 seconds until you realize you have to go back down the same way you came up.

lifeitsownself.com has this view of the backside of Mount Rushmore. No wonder you can’t hike up there. ;-) If you look at the ad on the sign you will see whythe original poster created Presidents with buff dairy airs.

This isn’t highpoint-related but it’s pretty funny (although of course it was never a real ad).

In watching the Tosh.O marathon on Comedy Central it’s time to resurrect this classic video of what not to do on the summit. Tosh’s joke was “I hope the Luna bars weren’t in the bag. When do we start eatting each other?” Inititally we thought it was Whitney but youtube says it was a mountain in Alberta.
