The Ironwood Daily reports Joseph Westbrook died after falling 150 feet from the Lake of the Clouds Escarpment in Michigan’s Porcupine Mountains. He had been reported missing on Oct. 4 but was found on Oct. 23.

The Knox News reports a 60-year-old woman fell 35 feet down a ravine while hiking the paved Laurel Falls trail about six miles west of the Sugarlands Visitor Center when she fell about 35 feet.

The Montrose Press reports a climber fell nearly 60 feet into Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park as he was ascending the Escape Artist route on the North Rim wall when he fell and was left suspended in his climbing gear.

The AP reports a washout has closed Highway 410 is closed from the Morse Creek winter gate to the junction with Highway 123 near Mount Rainier on Chinook Pass. Westbay says it will take at least two weeks to build a wall, replace drainage, install a new guardrail and repave the highway.
