The 26th annual Hood to Coast run from Timberline Line Lodge to the Pacific Ocean at Seaside Oregon starts today. In addition to the 197-mile Hood to Coast run the 124-mile Portland to Coast Walk and High School Challenge is also taking place.
The Columbian notes:
- Number of teams: 1,000 in the Hood to Coast, 61 with captains from southwest Washington – including Mom’s on the Run, and Insanity Runs in the Family; 400 Portland to Coast Walk teams, with 44 from Clark County; 50 High School Challenge teams that run the Portland to Coast course, seven of those from Clark County high schools.
– The Race: Each team has 12 members. In the Hood to Coast, each runs three legs of the course. In the Portland to Coast, each covers two legs. Leg distances vary from 3.52 to 7.72 miles. Each team has two support vans to transport members between exchange points
