Cell GPS Phone Leads to Hawaii Rescue in Nu'uanu Mountains


Hawaiichannel reports T-Mobile workers using the GPS coordinates of a phone organized a rescue of a mssing hiker in the Nu’uanu mountains.

Karis Johns called for help on 911 but the phone died. T-Mobile used the gps coordinates to organize a search — although it took two days before she was actually found. This was reported to be the first time the GPS feature has been used in Hawaii for a rescue.
