KTVB has a history of Borah noting that it was originally called “Chilly Mountain” and then Beauty Peak before being renamed for Idaho Senator William Edgar Borah.
The hike is normally 10 hours round trip although the record is 97 minutes.
Forest officials say the first person to ascend the mountain may have been T.M. Bannon, a surveyor with the U.S. Geological Survey.
Bannon’s climb was documented in 1912, but it’s hard to say if someone beat him to the top before that date.
