John Simac one of the founders of the Tacoma Mountain Rescue in 1958 died on May 2 at age 93.

    John Simac was like a second father, who made it possible for me to become an
    Eagle Scout and mountaineer. As Past President of the Mountaineering Club
    of Alaska (1965), I learned even more about his contributions to my life and
    the vital role he played in getting me to where I am today. I want to thank Annice
    for sharing him with all of us who benefited so much from his love and
    dedication. I will continue to live on in his memory. Ron Linder
